October is a notoriously difficult time for me. So, this month, I want to focus on the small things that I love about teaching and on the people who have shaped my career in different ways.
 Day 1 - Classroom

This year, I am blessed with first period planning. It was as if the stars aligned, because I had no idea how beneficial this would be to me. I am not a morning person, so having this extra hour of quiet helps me focus on what I need to accomplish in the coming hours. It enables me to be intentional, efficient, calm.

I snapped this picture Friday morning while sitting at one of my student desks. I’ve “decentralized my teacher zones” which is just a fancy way to say I don’t use a teacher desk anymore. This, too, has helped keep me rooted in my vision for what is most important: my students.
